A word to our Parents

There are a few things of utmost importance that we here at Andersen Martial Arts (herein AMA) would like our parents to know.

First, we do not give belts and ranks away, they must be earned! Every student must be able to show a competent knowledge of the requirements for their belt level. If a student does not demonstrate this in class prior to the testing, they will not be allowed to test. We try to take into consideration age, ability and any other factors that may be applicable. The bottom line is that the student must be able to demonstrate the requirements for promotion.

Please note that we do this for a few different reasons. AMA believes this serves the student the best. For them to have pride in what they accomplish, that pride will come only when they know that they earned what they have. We take our martial arts very seriously. If we tell you that AMA is going to teach martial arts and then fails to actually teach, we do not deserve to be conducting classes. Our goal is always for the students’ best interests.

In this regard, you may speak with the instructors at anytime and see how to best help your student. AMA is willing and able to be a help and encourage in every way possible without compromising the requirements of our classes. As the parent, AMA believes you are the heart and core of that child and we will work to the good of that child at all times.

Second, if you see or think there is a problem in the class, again please speak with the Instructors either before or after class. AMA considers every student as a precious gift, yet recognizes that the parent is the final authority for that child. Again we will work to please you. If you are uncomfortable or want limitations concerning your student, let us know. We totally believe in the parent and will respect and support your concerns. But note that should you desire that AMA stop things that are really a part and parcel of training and teaching your student the martial arts, then we may need to part company. The key here is to communicate with each other and help each other make that student the very best we can.

Third. All and any concerns can be addressed. You (parent and student) are important to us and we wish to serve you in the best way possible. That will always be the goal of Andersen Martial Arts and Master Balogh.

Thanks. Let’s keep working together!
